Affliction Guide[]

Types of affliction

All afflictions can be removed if the familiar receives and aura or if they are replaced with another affliction. Some are also removed if the familiar receives damage.

  1. Poison (earth) - damages a familiar for 10% of its maximum health each turn for 4 turns.
  2. Ignite (fire) - damages a familiar for a fixed amount each turn for 4 turns, starting at 800 damage and decreasing by 200 each turn.
  3. Freeze (water) - incapacitates a familiar for several turns, rendering it unable to move, use skills or attack. This is dispelled if the familiar gets hit by any attack as well as the standard way of removing an affliction.
  4. Paralyse (air) - incapacitates a familiar for several turns, rendering it unable to move, use skills or attack. Familiars with this affliction have a blue orb surrounding them.
  5. Silence - prevents a familiar from using skills for 2-5 turns depending on the skill rank. Familiars with this affliction have a cloud of black smoke emanating from them.
  6. Stun/Knockdown - prevents a familiar from moving, using skills or attacking for 1 turn. Familiars with this affliction have a circle of yellow stars above their heads.

Removing afflictions

If a familiar has an affliction it will be removed if it's later the target of an aura, for example a defender's shield aura (eg Hector), or a healers regenerate aura (eg Dwarven Surgeon). A familiar can only have one affliction at a time so if a paralysed familiar is later afflicted with poison for example, then the paralysis will be replaced by the poison.

Negating an affliction

Casting the correct shield aura before a spell with an affliction effect is cast will prevent the affliction from hitting your familiars, along with any damage associated with that attack. The damage prevention element has a chance to miss and only works around 80% of the time. For example the aura from Mad Goblin Roller prevents your units from being frozen and will also protect around 80% of them from being damaged by White Wyrm's breath attack.
